Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We have mixed feelings. Our objective was to win the match, even though we knew the difficulty of the task. You could tell that the players were still feeling the minutes from the DFB Cup, which is also why we made a few personnel changes. We fell behind, managed to equalise and wanted more – but the winner eluded us. We have to accept that today. With this point, we still have it in our own hands to achieve our big objective at the end of the Bundesliga season.”
Ermedin Demirovic: “On the one hand, the point could yet prove to be important; on the other, we would’ve liked all three. It was a difficult game today – we struggled to really get going at the start. The cross from Bilal El Khannouss for the equaliser was a beauty. I’m pleased about the goal but a win would’ve been nicer. The overall situation hasn’t changed much: our job now is to recover quickly and then prepare with total focus for the away match at Hoffenheim. I assume there’ll be a lot of VfB fans supporting us in this important game – we know what’s at stake there.”
