Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “Firstly we congratulate FC Bayern on the win and on being crowned German champions – it’s an absolutely deserved and convincing title win. In the early stages of the match, a lot of what we set out to do came off. We attacked with courage. After we took the lead, Bayern created chances – the way we conceded the goals is frustrating – and they got going. My team didn’t roll over by any stretch, we changed a few things at half-time and were then deeper and more compact in our shape. For us it’s now about quickly turning the focus to the DFB Cup semi-final against Freiburg.”
Chema: “FC Bayern have absolutely top quality – we knew the difficulty of the task. The way we started and took the lead were good, we were well in the game. Unfortunately Bayern turned it around very quickly and it was hard for us to come back from that. We tried a lot but have to accept the defeat in the end.”
Maximilian Mittelstädt: “We wanted to get something in Munich and we got off to a good start. However, you also have to assess the whole thing realistically: Bayern are simply at a world-class level, both individually and as a team. We tried to inject some energy in the second half again, but nothing more than the goal to make it 4-2 was possible against Bayern on this day.”
