Match summary
Sebastian Hoeneß’s side made a good start at the Allianz Arena and had the first real chance of the game in the 12th minute, when Bilal El Khannouss fired straight at Jonas Urbig from just inside the penalty area.
Führich strikes first
VfB stunned the home crowd in the 21st minute. El Khannouss played a perfect through ball into the penalty area, which Chris Führich latched onto and buried into the right corner to make it 1-0.
Bayern complete quick turnaround
The lead lasted just 11 minutes, though. Jamal Musiala dribbled his way to the byline before squaring to Raphael Guerreiro, who turned the ball in from close range to level the score.
Less than two minutes later, a misplaced pass from Finn Jeltsch provoked a Bayern counter-attack, which Nicolas Jackson finished off to give the hosts the lead. Stuttgart were too passive in this spell and Bayern capitalised again in the 37th minute. VfB failed to clear the ball and it came to Alphonso Davies, whose shot from 15 metres took an unfortunate deflection off Jeff Chabot past Alexander Nübel, leaving the visitors 3-1 down at half-time.
Clincher from Kane
VfB were left with even more of a mountain to climb on 52 minutes, when substitute Harry Kane fired in on the rebound after Nübel had saved Leon Goretzka’s effort.
El Khannouss denied by Urbig
Bayern continued to dominate proceedings, although Jonas Urbig did have to make a smart save to deny El Khannouss on the counter in the 70th minute.
The FCB keeper was beaten by a peach of a strike from substitute Chema in the 88th minute, but it was nothing more than a consolation as Bayern proved too good and were confirmed as Bundesliga champions with four matches to spare. The 4-2 defeat leaves VfB in fourth place.
Goals
21st minute: After a brilliant pass from El Khannouss, Führich slots the ball into the far corner from eight metres.
32nd minute: Musiala whips the ball across goal to Guerreiro, who can hardly miss and makes it 1-1.
33rd minute: Bayern break after Jeltsch gives away possession and Luis Díaz tees up Jackson to give the Munich side the lead.
37th minute: Davies’ strike from just inside the penalty area takes a deflection off Chabot and Nübel can only watch as the ball sails in for 3-1.
52nd minute: Nübel blocks a shot from Goretzka but is powerless against the rebound from Kane.
88th minute: Chema hammers an unstoppable half-volley into the roof of the net from 17 metres to reduce the deficit.
