Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We were proactive, dominant and passionate, but we didn’t manage to create any real clear-cut chances. We put Dortmund under pressure but they were able to withstand it. They defended in a very disciplined way and had that bit of luck on their side at the end. Ultimately, it was small details that decided the game.”
Deniz Undav: “We controlled the game throughout but were ruthlessly punished at the end. In matches like this it’s important to make the most of the small moments you get, but we didn’t have enough of those today. You hope that a ball will squeeze through as you build pressure, but Dortmund did well. They defended deep and kept a clean sheet.”
Ermedin Demirovic: “I’m sure everyone can imagine how it feels after a game like that. We dominated it for pretty much the whole 90 minutes, but then lost it in stoppage time. Dortmund were clinical with the two chances they had. We had a lot of attacks, a lot of promising moves, including counters and good build-up play, but we lacked that final incision in the penalty area.”
