“There were a lot of 50-50s”

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, Ermedin Demirovic and Maximilian Mittelstädt give their thoughts on the 3-3 draw in Heidenheim.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We’re disappointed. It was a tough evening and we weren’t able to pick up the desired result. There were a lot of contentious moments in what was at times a very intense, high-tempo game. It’s frustrating that our goal to go 2-1 up was disallowed for a penalty are the other end of the pitch. But we showed the right reaction, we fought back and equalised. It was more of a controlled game in the second half, though it lacked clear-cut chances for long periods. At the end of the day it’s a 3-3 draw that probably neither side can really be happy with.”

Ermedin Demirovic: “It was the kind of match we were expecting, with a lot of battles and passion. It was a tough away assignment. It’s frustrating we weren’t able to win it at the end. There were a lot of 50-50s that had an impact on the game. It’s unfortunate that both of my goals were disallowed. Now we have to keep going, keep working, and hopefully my next goal will count.”

Maximilian Mittelstädt: “It was an intense and evenly balanced game with chances at both ends. The way it panned out was unfortunate for us because we could have got more from it. In my opinion, the incident in which our goal to make it 2-1 was chalked off for Heidenheim to be awarded a penalty was a 50-50.”
