VfB sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth: “It was a very intense match. The statistics point in our favour, but Bochum made life difficult for us with their physicality and tight marking. Like last week against Gladbach, we conceded a goal straight after the restart, had to chase the game and had a lot of chances to score. Now we have to focus on the next match, work harder to win tackles and try to score goals.”
Waldemar Anton: “It’s a painful defeat. We were in control of the game and made a small mistake in the second half that was ruthlessly punished. We had a lot of possession and scoring chances that we really should have made the most of. At the moment we simply need far too many chances to score goals. It’s a disappointing result.”
Deniz Undav: “We were the better team, but Bochum scored as a result of an unfortunate mistake. At the other end of the pitch we had a lot of clear-cut chances, especially in the second half. We should have taken advantage of them. We’ll get back to work tomorrow, keep at it and go the extra mile.”
