Markus Weinzierl: “I congratulate my team and give them huge credit for the second half. We weren’t really in the game in the first half, but we showed a great reaction in the second. We showed more bottle and were better in our tackling. Anastasios Donis gave us a lift when he came on again and then Mario got the two goals. I’m delighted for him and the whole team. The character they showed should not be taken for granted. I can’t praise highly enough how the players got the fans on their side. We’ll embrace the challenges in the two games we have left and try to put ourselves in a good position in the relegation battle going into the winter break.”
Pal Dardai: “Congratulations to Stuttgart. They deserved to win on the basis of the second half. The first half wasn’t pretty and we could see Stuttgart were unsettled. It was important to get the first goal, but then we didn’t make the most of their shakiness. I warned my players at half-time that Stuttgart would give their all to come back. We didn’t have anyone in the middle who could control the game. Stuttgart were very snappy, Mario showed his class with two good goals and so Stuttgart deserved to win. We have to accept that. Perhaps we got a bit too complacent. We’ll now prepare for a tough game against Augsburg.”
