VfB head coach Markus Weinzierl: "The way we played in the first-half, particularly in the opening phase, makes it very difficult to act. In the third minute we conceded the 0-1, because we were caught out in attempting to switch the play. That cost us our entire plan. In the 23rd minute, we were caught on the counter-attack again and, shortly after, we conceded a third due to an individual error - something like that just can't be allowed to happen to us. The second-half was better than the first and it was clear for all to see that the team felt more comfortable operating in a 3-5-2 set-up. On the whole, it was very disappointing. We need to learn from this game and continue to work diligently."

Timo Baumgartl: "It was the worst possible start for the coach and the team. In the second period, we did have a few chances, but I think it's fair to say that Dortmund dropped down a gear. In the end, the win - including the score-line - was deserved. However, we shouldn't dismiss everything. Now we have a week in which to prefer for the TSG Hoffenheim game. We need to keep our heads up now."

Mario Gomez: "It was a bitterly disappointing first-half. We need to defend better at the back. BVB simply have the quality to score goals from those situations. What was positive is how we came out for the second-half. But up front we need to make better use of the chances we create for ourselves."

Ron-Robert Zieler: "In Dortmund, we were facing a very strong opponent. When then everything goes in favour of BVB, as it did in the first-half, that is very frustrating. It was clear to see that we can create chances too. For all of our disappointment, we must also look to the positives. However, we are in a very serious situation."
