"All the work put in by our entire youth academy"

The U17s have been crowned German champions. Here is what the club had to say after coach Daniel Jungwirth’s side’s triumph.

Coach Daniel Jungwirth: “The boys’ performance, and the way they go about things, makes me enormously proud. We found ourselves up against a good opponent and so I’m also the more delighted that we managed to get the right result. We went 28 games without defeat, so in my book, that makes us worthy champions.”

Youth academy director Stephan Hildebrandt: “A title like this obviously doesn’t come overnight or in the space of just one season. The lads have been looked after by various different people, and I’m not just talking about the coaches. All the work put in by our entire youth academy team over a number of years has formed the basis of this success. We’re all very proud of this achievement.”

CEO Alexander Wehrle: “We’re delighted for our U17s, their coach and all of the staff for their league title. Successful youth teams have become something of a well-established tradition at VfB, as everyone has come to know, and that’s why we’re so proud of our for lads picking up this title, and we want to take this opportunity to congratulate them.”

Board member for sport Fabian Wohlgemuth: “Well done to our U17s on winning the title. For the side to have come through the final with the win is fantastic for all the players, coaches and staff, and of course for everyone who works at our youth academy.”
