Following VfB Women’s promotion to the top flight, their adventure in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga begins away from home at TSG Hoffenheim at the SNP Arena on Sunday 23 August (kick-off 14:00 CEST).
“Aiming to pick up points”
Head coach Nico Schneck’s side lost 2-1 to Hoffenheim in pre-season, but they are determined to do better as the new campaign kicks off. “We’re aware that we’re going into the match as underdogs,” said Schneck. “Nevertheless, we’re going to Hoffenheim aiming to pick up points. We’ve learned our lessons from the friendly and we want to draw the right conclusions so that we can leave the pitch as winners this time.”
“A good mix in the squad”
“As a promoted side, our main aim is to secure survival as soon as possible,” said VfB captain Maxi Rall. “We’ll have to wait and see what’s possible after that. We’ve got a good mix of talented youngsters and more experienced players in the squad, and we want to be as successful as possible. We worked hard in pre-season and want to get off to a good start together.”
