VfB Women promoted to the Bundesliga

The girls from Cannstatt made history on Sunday, with their promotion to the top flight continuing their unprecedented and extraordinary ascent up the German football pyramid from the fourth tier.

VfB Women wrote their names in the history books on Sunday 10 May. Not only did their 4-1 home win against VfL Wolfsburg reserves secure the team’s third successive promotion, it clinched the second-division title and means they will play in the Google Pixel Women’s Bundesliga in the 2026/27 season.

VfB Stuttgart Women were founded on 1 June 2021. After beginning life in the fourth tier, they have enjoyed a continuous rise all the way to the Bundesliga - an ascent unprecedented in German women’s football.

Reaction to the historic success
