In front early
VfB celebrated their first goal of the match after just four minutes. Chris Führich’s cross was headed in by Jovan Milosevic, who made it 2-0 with his second goal in the 27th minute.
Comfortable half-time lead
As expected, the hosts couldn’t match VfB technically and it was only a matter of time before more goals came. With 42 minutes gone, the impressive Führich made it 3-0 before Tiago Tomas netted the fourth goal in first-half stoppage time.
Jovanovic brace
Coach Sebastian Hoeneß made wholesale changes at the break. It took a while for his team to start creating real chances again in the second half, but then Lazar Jovanovic struck twice (59’, 78’) to stretch the lead to 6-0. The final goal came from Jarzinho Malanga shortly before the end (89’) to round off a successful opening friendly.
“Showed good enthusiasm”
Sebastian Hoeneß said after the game: “The conditions were brilliant, we experienced a great crowd in Balingen. Of course, we know we have to put the 7-0 win in context. The boys showed good enthusiasm, didn’t concede at all and were consistent in a lot of their play. I’m pleased with the opening performance.”
