Friday 31 July 2026 is back-to-work day for five VfB first-teamers who were given extra time off to recover from the World Cup, namely Germany’s Angelo Stiller, Jamie Leweling and Deniz Undav, plus Ermedin Demirovic (Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Jeremy Arévalo (Ecuador).
As was the case for their team-mates, they will devote their first day back to performance tests, before heading off on Monday 3 August 2026 with the rest of the squad to the club’s training camp in Grassau at the Chiemsee lake.
“We’re finally getting going again”
“I enjoyed the holiday and it was good for the body and mind, but now we’re finally getting going again at VfB,” said Leweling. “The performance tests are tough and not particularly fun, but they’re part of it and an important aspect.”
El Khannouss and Jaquez still to return
Bilal El Khannouss and Luca Jaquez, who reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup with Morocco and Switzerland respectively, will be the last players to return to training. They are due back in the next few days.
