It’s a number that Nikolas Narty can be proud of. This season he’s spent exactly 1,466 minutes on the pitch in all competitions for VfB, featuring in 37 matches – making it a breakthrough campaign for the 26-year-old. It’s therefore only logical that his journey in Stuttgart continues. In an interview, the Denmark international discusses his contract extension and the future.
Hello Niko, congratulations on the contract extension. What made you decide to stay in the white and red?
Niko: “First and foremost, I feel very happy at VfB. A lot of things fit together here: I’m part of a great team and I’m coached by an excellent coaching staff, who care about the development of us as a team as well as every individual player. And I constantly experience the power and the support that the VfB fans give us. I am happy that the contract extension has come off.”
You’ve been under contract at VfB since 2019. Has Stuttgart become a kind of home for you in all these years?
Niko: “Yes, I can say that with absolute certainty. I feel at home in the city and the region, so it has a firm place in my heart. It’s nice that our journey together is continuing.”
Let’s finish by looking ahead: what are your aims for the next chapter together with your teammates?
Niko: “I don’t want to look too far into the future. We already have an important game in the Bundesliga on Saturday and we want to win at Eintracht Frankfurt. That would fulfil a big dream for us as a team. A week later, it’s the DFB Cup final in Berlin – that’s going to be amazing too, we’ll be ready. I have great confidence in our side and in my teammates, so I’m convinced we’ll be able to continue on this path in the near term.”
