Work, sweat and smiles

VfB have been back in pre-season training for a week now, and on Friday there was a different kind of session on the agenda: the customary DFL Media Day.

The VfB first team had a varied day at the office on Friday: in the morning they worked with rubber cords and bands, among other things, in an intensive session, before posing for the cameras in the afternoon as part of the Deutsche Fußball Liga's (DFL) annual Media Day.

Waldemar Anton and Co worked up a sweat in the morning through countless jumps, sprints and drills, with new signing Jamie Leweling also involved. After a short rest, the players then swapped their training gear for the new home jersey as they posed for the cameras at the DFL Media Day. In addition to the obligatory photo shoots, various challenges awaited the boys from Cannstatt, in which they had to demonstrate their abilities, such as shooting at a target.

The next challenge is already around the corner: high summer temperatures are expected on Saturday as head coach Sebastian Hoeneß' charges take on fifth-tier side SSV Reutlingen in a friendly (kick-off 15:00 CEST).

"Our training sessions so far have been tough," Chris Führich told VfB-TV. "The games are a welcome change. We want to show what we've been working on."
