Philipp Förster leaves VfB

The midfielder has signed for VfL Bochum with immediate effect.

Philipp Förster has left VfB Stuttgart and joined Bundesliga rivals VfL Bochum. The 27-year-old made 20 appearances in the league for VfB last season, scoring twice. The midfielder was under contract at VfB until 30 June 2023, but an agreement has been reached with Bochum over an immediate transfer.

Förster made a total of 76 competitive appearances in the white and red shirt, registering eight goals and seven assists. VfB thank Förster for his time with the club and wish him all the best for the future.

Sven Mislintat: “Philipp was an important element in our game during the Bundesliga 2 season and made a big contribution to promotion. He was also one of our key players in the subsequent Bundesliga campaign. Last season didn’t go as well for Philipp, partly because of illness and injury. The move to VfL Bochum offers him the chance for a new start. We thank Philipp for his great commitment in the VfB shirt and wish him all the best for the future.”

Philipp Förster: “I’m grateful for our time together, in which we’ve experienced a lot. VfB will remain a special club for me and I leave with many nice moments and memories. I want to thank everyone who’s supported me, particularly the fans. Playing in this stadium is special. Now I’m looking forward to the new challenge and everything that’s to come.”
