As one season ends, another one begins. VfB are currently making plans for their preparations ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, with head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo set to bring his squad back in on 27 June for their first team training sessions (more information to follow). After a week of training, the lads from Cannstatt will then play their first friendly on 2 July in a JAKO-sponsored match away to local sixth-tier club SV Böblingen. Kick-off at the Stadion am Silberweg will be at 15:00 CEST. From 9 to 16 July, VfB will be heading off to their training camp in the Allgäu region of Germany.
The first competitive fixture of the season comes two weeks after the end of camp, when the first round proper of the DFB Cup is played on the weekend of 29 July to 1 August. The Bundesliga kicks off a week later with the opening matchday spread over the weekend of 5 to 7 August.
