Cup history:

BFC Dynamo are taking part in the DFB Cup for the eighth time, but only once in the past have they made it through to the second round (1999/2000). Their most recent cup appearance was in the 2018/19 season, but that ended in a 9-1 defeat at the hands of 1. FC Köln.

Last season, VfB made it through to the round of 16, where they slipped to a 2-1 loss against Borussia Mönchengladbach. Their best campaign in recent memory came in 2013, when the lads from Cannstatt made it all the way through to the final. VfB have won the trophy three times in their history: in 1954, 1958 and 1997.

Goalscorers:

BFC’s new recruit Christian Beck has scored two and set up another couple of goals in his first three league matches for the club. Back in his 1. FC Magdeburg days, the striker scored 131 goals in 303 matches across the second and third divisions and the DFB Cup.
