Pavard out until New Year

Benjamin Pavard suffered a muscle tear in the back of his right thigh during Sunday evening’s match at Borussia Mönchengladbach.

The 22-year-old defender, who has been ever-present for VfB in the Bundesliga so far this season, has been ruled out for several weeks, meaning he will not feature again before the winter break. The France international was forced off in the 84th minute of Sunday’s game. After his injury, Benjamin Pavard will receive treatment back home in France over the coming days in close consultation with the VfB doctors and physios.

Dennis Aogo also had to be withdrawn during the match due to injury, with a scan on Monday morning revealing muscle stiffness in his calf, which will be treated heavily over the coming days.

Finally, VfB are hopeful that Andreas Beck, who was substituted at half-time because of a knee problem, will be fit for the upcoming home match against Hertha BSC on Saturday (kick-off 15:30 CET).
