“The way we fought for each other was incredible”

Sebastian Hoeneß, Deniz Undav, Angelo Stiller and Jeff Chabot with the reaction to VfB reaching the DFB Cup final.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was a very intensive game; it was incredibly tense and at the end there was an outpouring of emotion. In my opinion we deserve to be going to the final in Berlin given the greater number of clear-cut chances we created. My team deserve a great deal of praise for producing a battling cup performance like that.”

Deniz Undav: “I’m delighted that Tiago Tomas scored that goal at the end. It was a really tough game, we had to fight hard. Now we face Bayern in the final. They’ve beaten us three times this season, but we hope we have a better day this time. Anything is possible in a knockout game.”

Angelo Stiller: “It was a dramatic match. We had enough chances to kill the game off earlier, but that just made it all the better when we scored the winner just before the final whistle. We’ve very much deserved this moment. One of our team’s strengths was staying so composed in such an intense match. We deserve to be going to Berlin. We’ll be facing Bayern and will need a top-class performance.”

Jeff Chabot: “The way we fought for each other on the pitch was incredible. Reaching the final is an amazing feeling. In my opinion, we deserve to be going to Berlin.”
