“A match full of ups and downs”

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, Alexander Nübel and Ermedin Demirovic spoke after the first-round DFB Cup tie.

Sebastian Hoeneß: “I’d like to congratulate Eintracht Braunschweig on what was a fantastic cup clash – they pressed well and caused us all sorts of problems. I’d also like to congratulate my team, though, as they showed fight and held their nerve. We had four spot-kicks where a miss would have sent us out. Despite the fact that we made it through, I still can’t be satisfied with the way we got there.”

Alexander Nübel: “I’m pleased that we got through and I’m delighted with the ‘Man of the Match’ award, although Medo could easily have gone home with it after his two-and-a-half goals. I did what I had to do in the shoot-out. Now we’re focusing on Saturday and want to get our first Bundesliga win against Gladbach.”

Ermedin Demirovic: “It was a tough match, and we were really made to sweat as a team. I’m happy to have helped the side out with my goals. It was a tie full of ups and downs, but the only thing that matters in the cup is making it through to the next round.”
