Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was the kind of game we expected it to be: fiery, intense and passionate. It was important for us to swing the game our way with the early goal. We played well, very well even, in the opening stages, but we were too sloppy after that, which meant the game became more open again. It wasn’t a case of playing beautiful football today but of performing in a stable, united and focused manner. The boys got themselves back on track in that sense and created more chances, one of which they converted to make it 2-0. We’ve reached the next round, which was our aim. That’s all that counts today.”
Deniz Undav: “I think we deserved to win. The early goal from Luca Jaquez helped us and we defended really well. We threw ourselves into everything and came through it together. I’m happy for Atakan Karazor, who scored the important second goal. We stayed focused after that and hardly gave them anything. That was one of the keys to our victory today.”
Luca Jaquez: “We’re delighted to have won and to have advanced to the next round. It’s always good to make the most of set pieces – it worked well with our opening goal. On the whole it was a fiery and intense game. We had to work a lot and give it everything. It’ll do us good to have a little rest now before we head to Leipzig for our next test on Saturday.”
