Post-match comments

Hannes Wolf: "We can consider ourselves fortunate to still be playing in the DFB-Cup. In the first-half, we found few decent solutions against a good side, we failed to find the balance and didn’t defend the counter-attacks well. In the second-half we tried everything, pulled a goal back and then equalised through an own-goal. Towards the end of the tie, Cottbus were the better side and would have deserved the win. We need to regenerate now and then intensively prepare for the game at Hertha BSC. We will then have players returning who missed out on the Cottbus match – that will help us."

Simon Terodde: "We haven’t necessarily deservedly progressed – but that makes no difference. In the first-half we didn’t find the gaps and Cottbus made effective use of their chances. I am proud of the way the team bounced back from a 0-2 deficit. In a penalty shoot-out, luck always has a role to play."

Ron-Robert Zieler: "That was a real cup battle today, which we would much preferred to decide in our favour after the ninety minutes. Having gone behind, we showed good moral and a positive reaction. All that counts today is progression, but we know there are still several screws to be tightened."
