“An incredible match”

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, goalscorer Ermedin Demirovic and goalkeeper Alexander Nübel assess the 3-3 draw at Hoffenheim.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was an incredible match that we witnessed. There weren’t many chances to begin with. After the first goal, we responded quickly but then fell behind from a set piece again. At 3-1 it was a very difficult task – Hoffenheim had one or two opportunities to put it to bed. We reduced the deficit, hung in and battled, and always believed we could equalise.”

Ermedin Demirovic: “Ultimately, it’s a very important point, which can give us a boost for the end of the Bundesliga season. We worked hard for the equaliser and kept believing until the end. I’m very proud of the team’s mentality. Alex Nübel also kept us in the game with two or three of his saves. That was crucial to us being able to get the point in the end.”

Alexander Nübel: “We’re pleased with the point in the end. It was a battling performance, which earned us a point. And the point obviously helps – it’s very tight in the table but this keeps us right in the hunt. Nevertheless, there are a few aspects of the performance today we have to look at. We must and can defend set pieces better – together we’ll get back there.”
