“We took our chances”

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “We started the match well and deservedly took the lead. After that, because of the red card, we continued to have control. We lacked a bit of energy at the end of the first half. Our intention for the second half was to be very active from the start and take complete control of the game. We succeeded in doing that with the other goals. I’m pleased for the boys, they stuck at it and deserved the victory.”

Atakan Karazor: “The win is deserved and does us good. I’m pleased about my goal but I’m even more pleased about our victory in the last home match of the season. We fashioned a lot of opportunities against a compact Augsburg defence and took four of them, which is really good. We want to take that enjoyment with us into the next two weeks.”

Maximilian Mittelstädt: “The win feels really good. We were desperate to win the last home match of the season and are very glad we’ve done so. Obviously, it favoured us that we were a man up from relatively early on because of the sending-off. We took our chances well, it was fun. On top of that, we pushed each other in defence and also celebrated some of the tackles we won. The win gives us further confidence in this final stage of the season.”
