Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was a tough evening from our perspective. We had numerous chances and only have ourselves to blame for not scoring a goal. The team did a lot and tried a lot, they were energetic and focused. Heidenheim’s goal was a dagger to our hearts. It’s hard to accept and it hurts. Together, we have to get ourselves into a position where we can win games again. We’re a team of fighters and we intend to show it.”
Ermedin Demirovic: “We had a lot of possession and chances, but it’s difficult to explain why we lost the game. We were in control for the most part and created good opportunities, particularly in the second half. If we’d made it 1-0, the game would probably have ended differently. We’re missing that tiny bit of luck at the moment – we need to work for it and get there by force. We’re incredibly frustrated at the moment because we had high hopes for this match at home, and unfortunately we couldn’t give our fans the win.”
Nick Woltemade: “It’s very frustrating to lose this game on home soil. It’s also a bit hard to explain. We had our chances, especially in the second half, and had a number of attempts. We had a lot of opportunities on the edge of Heidenheim’s area, but we were often lacking centimetres or the final ball we needed to score a goal. The late goal we conceded is tough to take and is extremely frustrating.”
