Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “Our approach was clear going into the second half: give absolutely everything, give it your all and turn the game around together. The team did that very well. We’re happy to have earned our first win in Leipzig. We picked up a total of 50 points in the Bundesliga this season and were close to the European places. I think our overall development has been positive, and we want to crown it in a week’s time in the DFB Cup final in Berlin.”
Deniz Undav: “It was a great game today, and one in which mentality played a big role. We came back from 2-1 down, which was important. The way we’ve played in recent weeks has been positive. We have to continue like that. If we do and can keep our heads clear then I’m optimistic about the final. We’ve pulled together again as a team and are a really good group.”
Maxi Mittelstädt: “After going behind twice, we proved once again that we have a lot of character and can come back at any time. This away win has really energised us and given us another big boost. We’ve given a lot back to the fans with our performances and results over the past three weeks, and have got ourselves into good shape for the cup final in Berlin. Now we’ll prepare for it with full focus and a great deal of enthusiasm.”
