“A memorable game”

Sebastian Hoeneß, Jeff Chabot and Deniz Undav with the reaction to the 4-4 draw at Union Berlin.

Head coach Sebastian Hoeneß: “It was a truly spectacular match. I’ve got mixed feelings after the final whistle. Overall we produced a good performance, but we’ve only come away with a point. We were in control of the game, made Union chase the ball and reacted well after going 2-0 down. Having said that, we have to be critical of the build-up to the goals we conceded and our defending at set plays, which wasn’t good. We’re showing lots of very promising moments but are constantly having to deal with setbacks. The team got a lot out of a difficult game today.”

Jeff Chabot: “We tried everything to get all three points. Obviously, it’s difficult to come back when you go 2-0 down at the Alten Försterei. But we fought our way back and really responded well. One downside is that we didn’t take the lead into the break. We controlled the game in the second half and had more possession, but unfortunately we struggled to create any clear-cut chances. Sometimes the final ball was lacking.”

Deniz Undav: “Both sets of fans can certainly be happy to have been at such a memorable game. The first half was crazy. Obviously, I’m pleased to have scored. I’ve blocked out a lot of things in recent weeks and just kept trying to work hard. That makes it all the nicer that I was able to play from the start today and help the team with my goal.”
