Match summary
Fans at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei in Berlin were treated to a wild encounter with eight first-half goals. VfB’s defence was rather shaky at times and Sebastian Hoeneß’s men were soon 2-0 down after efforts from Andrej Ilic (5’) and Diogo Leite (19’).
Undav and Millot lead fightback
However, VfB fought back swiftly and long-range efforts from Deniz Undav (23’) and Enzo Millot (30’) brought them back into the game at 2-2. More was still to come, though, with Union’s Leopold Querfeld arrowing a 35-yard strike into the top corner to restore the home side’s lead (39’).
Chabot and Führich on target
The drama continued as quickfire goals from Jeff Chabot (43’) and Chris Führich (45’+1) put VfB in front for the first time, but the teams went in level at the break when Ilic scored his second of the game on the stroke of half-time (45’+6).
Goalless second half
Both teams tightened things up after the break, meaning chances were few and far between. VfB enjoyed more possession and were the more dominant side but lacked a cutting edge in the final third, leaving each team with a point from a spectacular match.

5th minute: Christopher Trimmel delivers a cross into VfB’s penalty area. Chabot is unable to clear the danger and Ilic pounces with a low shot to make it 1-0.
19th minute: Another teasing ball into the box from Trimmel and again VfB struggle to clear their lines. Leite is well placed to head Union 2-0 up.
23rd minute: Undav is afforded plenty of space just outside Union’s penalty area and he drills a low shot into the bottom left-hand corner to reduce the deficit.
30th minute: Millot with a wondergoal, curling a long-range effort into the top left corner to equalise at 2-2.
39th minute: Union reply with a long-distance stunner of their own as Querfeld unleashes an unstoppable shot into the top-right corner.
43rd minute: Angelo Stiller’s cross into the box is glanced on by Chabot and into the net. 3-3 now!
45th +1 minute: Undav finds Führich, who dances past Trimmel and smashes a low shot into the net to put VfB 4-3 up!
45th +6 minute: The madness continues! Another Trimmel cross into the box evades the VfB rearguard and Ilic heads in to make it 4-4.
