Post-match reaction

Pellegrino Matarazzo: “We started the game well, thanks in part to the opening goal. After conceding the equaliser we lost our way a little bit and Freiburg deserved to go into half-time in front. We were totally dominant in the second half. When you consider we had 27 attempts to their nine, a missed penalty and two shots against the post, we definitely could have got a point.”

Gonzalo Castro: “The result is very disappointing, particularly after our efforts against the post in the closing stages. We tried everything in the second half and showed a good reaction, but didn’t get our just rewards. We had the opportunities to get a point. We’ll go into our next game in Mainz full of confidence.”

Daniel Didavi: “We were extremely unfortunate to lose this game. Particularly in the second half we didn’t give our opponents any respite and created several golden opportunities. Going away empty-handed is hard to accept. The defeat is tough to take, but we’re looking forward.”
