VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: “The first goal came at a good time for us as we hadn’t started that well. From then until half-time it was an even contest. We didn’t give much away and I always felt that we could pose a threat going forward. The boys gave everything, defended as a block and put their hearts into it. That pleased me a lot. We’d be well advised to keep our feet on the ground after this win and continue to work hard on our development.”
Marc Oliver Kempf: “We were in their faces from the first minute to the last. Everyone threw themselves into every challenge. Even if our football didn’t always come off, it was clear to see that we stick together as a team. The 2-0 scoreline reflects the whole game, in my opinion. We ground out the goal and ground out these three points as well.”
Sasa Kalajdzic: “Although it wasn’t our best footballing display, it was a battling and hard-working performance. Everyone gave everything they had. We did really well against an ambitious team and took our chances – although I failed to take mine. It’s about the team and getting the three points.“
