Hannes Wolf: "We knew Schalke would go into the game with a great deal of intensity. That considered, we wanted to operate aggressively getting forward from our five-man back-line. That didn’t work for us and having won possession, we then gave the ball away far too easily. After conceding the two goals, the game then became very difficult for us. We tried everything possible and changed to a more offensive approach in the second-half. We had a couple of scenes in which we could have come back from a disappointing first-half. Schalke had chances to score a third too though. We would have liked to provide a better game for the people who support us and maybe even reward them with a win. We couldn’t do that today, which is why we are so disappointed."
Christian Gentner: "We never had any real stability in our play. Then conceding two goals from set-pieces made the whole thing even more difficult for us. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to pull a goal back in the second-half. It was a bitterly disappointing afternoon for us."
Timo Baumgartl: "That wasn’t a good first-half display from us, which is why we found ourselves 0-2 down early on. In the second-half we made a real effort, but we never really created any very clear chances on goal. Now we need to work on doing more to set up our strikers."
