Post-match comments

Hannes Wolf: "We had a good week in training and we had high hopes for this game. We started the match well and even had the chance to take the lead. After the sending-off – and there definitely should not have been a second booking – it was a different game. Shortly after the dismissal, we conceded a very unfortunate goal, but after that we can thank Ron-Robert Zieler that it was just 0-1 going into the break. After the equaliser, we were unable to hold HSV at bay. In spite of the defeat, I am happy with the battling attitude of my team. We tried everything."

Dennis Aogo: "We got into the game well and had a great chance to open the scoring. It’s unbelievably hard to get a second-booking and then sent off for such a foul. That changed the whole game. However, we scored an equaliser and wanted to then hold on to that for as long as possible – maybe even snatch a winner. The double-whammy from HSV ultimately decided the game."

Ron-Robert Zieler: "When you are a man down for 80 minutes, it’s never easy. I think we are all agreed that the second-booking should never have been issued. Maybe the game would have gone differently if we’d had taken the lead – we had the chance to do so. Something like the 0-1 should never happen. It was really a harmless shot, which then took a wicked bounce – but that’s no excuse."
