Pellegrino Matarazzo, VfB head coach: “Bochum put in a lot of effort throughout the match, and we also didn’t make things easy on ourselves. We had clear chances that we didn’t put away and also plenty of other times when we were in the attacking third of the pitch and needed to be more efficient in front of goal. In the second half we lost our shape a little, both in defence and attack, and Bochum came into the match more. Then we won the ball back in the opposition’s half and made it 1-0. At the end of the day we deserved our win.”
Hamadi Al Ghaddioui: “The three points will do us a lot of good. In the first half we had some good chances that we didn’t take. Then Bochum stepped it up and played well. We created another chance though and converted it to make it 1-0. The little bit of luck that you need was on our side today.”
Daniel Didavi: “That was hard work. In the first half we did well, built up pressure and moved the ball around, but we failed to take the lead and that meant that it was end-to-end stuff in the second half. The main thing is that everyone fought hard and again we managed to keep a clean sheet.”
