VfB head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo: “You could see and feel that my team enjoyed their football today. We dominated possession and pressed forward in the way that we needed to. We put pressure on right from the start and also managed to find the spaces, meaning that it was just a matter of time until we took the lead. Every win does us good and gives us more confidence. Today we can enjoy the three points that we picked up, but as of tomorrow we’ll be focusing on the next match away to Nuremberg.”
Marc Oliver Kempf: “We needed to make amends and it was a real weight off our shoulders that we managed to win the match in such convincing fashion. We showed a positive reaction and our performance in the first half meant that we fully deserved our win. We now want to carry this momentum over while maintaining our focus. We need to make sure that we don’t let our levels drop in the slightest in the next two matches.”
Sasa Kalajdzic: “I’m delighted that I got to start the match today. Getting injured at the start of the season meant that I couldn’t be sure whether I would actually get out onto the pitch again before the season was over. Going 4-0 up by half-time and running out 5-1 winners – we couldn’t ask for much more than that tonight. As for my performance, I think there’s more to come but I’d say that I did what was asked of me. I wanted to help the team out with my physique and my style of play.”
