VfB head coach Tim Walter: "We need to hold our hands up regarding a few things that we didn’t do well today. In the opening 20 minutes we weren’t up to speed and fell behind to goals from set pieces. That’s all about focus and paying attention. We were playing catch-up from that point onwards and although we threw everything forward, we only managed to reduce the deficit once it was too late."
Mario Gomez: "We did two things badly today. The first was letting in a goal early on, and secondly we defended badly from set pieces. For me personally and for the team as a whole, it’s tough to swallow. The derby victory a week ago got us back on track and we actually played pretty well here today, but at the end of the day we’re going home empty-handed."
Gregor Kobel: "In the first 20 minutes we weren’t really switched on. In the second half we gave it everything we’d got and created plenty of chances in addition to the three offside goals. It’s a real shame that we gave ourselves such a mountain to climb in the first half."
