Tim Walter, VfB head coach: “We started the match off well but then we conceded a goal and our plans went out the window. Borna then kept a really cool head and drew us level just before the break. In the second half it was one-way traffic, but we weren’t able to keep that same cool head in front of goal as we should have. At the end of the day, we didn’t come away with our reward.”
Gonzalo Castro: “We had some huge chances in the second half and we should have picked up the win, but we hit the post and then Darmstadt hacked one away that was going in. Looking on the bright side, we created a lot of chances, but we were lacking that killer instinct. I hope now that we have a good week out on the training pitch and then carry that over into the match in Hanover.”
Mario Gomez: “It’s so tough to have to be talking about another offside decision – that’s the sixth in three matches. I think tonight we were as good as we have been recently and we could have – probably should have – won the match with the chances we created.”
