On Tuesday, VfB Stuttgart visited the rehabilitation clinic near Villingen-Schwenningen. The facility provides strength and hope to children with severe chronic illnesses and their families. VfB's connection to the clinic in the Black Forest – which has existed for more than 30 years – is far more than just a project. For the young patients at the Tannheim aftercare clinic, playing football with the VfB players is the highlight of the day.
Spreading joy and spending time together, be it at lunch, at autograph and selfie sessions, or on the pitch: for the patients, these moments make them happy and give them strength. Football can do more, as the cooperation between VfB and Tannheim has shown for more than three decades.
Sebastian Hoeneß: ‘Magnificent work at Tannheim’
“I got to experience the facility for the first time last year,” said head coach Sebastian Hoeneß, who was also there along with his staff. “We should be very grateful that we’re able to give the children and teenagers such joy with our visit and joint activities. The work they do at Tannheim is magnificent and hugely important for our society.”
VfB foundation donates €30,000
During this year’s visit, the VfB foundation ‘Brustring der Herzen’ handed over a donation of 30,000 euros, which will allow the youngsters to take a break on a sailboat in Croatia as part of their therapy and further recovery.
