For the second time in three seasons, VfB will go toe to toe against Europe’s elite in the UEFA Champions League. The draw for the 2026/27 league phase has pitted the Cannstatt boys against some mouth-watering opponents.
VfB’s home games
VfB welcome Spanish side Atletico Madrid to the MHP Arena in the pick of their home ties. Belgian outfit Club Brugge will also travel to Stuttgart, with French club OSC Lille and Norwegian side Viking Stavanger completing the quartet of home fixtures.
VfB’s away games
Sebastian Hoeneß’s charges can also look forward to some intriguing away encounters, including a trip to face Italian side Inter Milan. The Cannstatt lads also take on Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, Turkish outfit Galatasaray and Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava.
Alexander Wehrle, VfB CEO, said: “We’re really looking forward to our UEFA Champions League campaign and the magical nights it will bring to Cannstatt and across Europe. The teams we’re facing in the league phase guarantee more exciting trips – including to Milan and Istanbul – and we’ll carry our enthusiasm and our values across Europe alongside thousands of fans. At home in Stuttgart, we’ll be exemplary hosts. We obviously want to win every game too.”
Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB’s board member for sport, added: “Our excitement about the Champions league has grown even further since the draw. We’re facing some of European football’s big names, such as Inter Milan, Atletico Madrid and Galatasaray. We’ve got some exciting trips to look forward to, as well as raucous nights at the MHP Arena. We’ll do everything in our power to represent VfB as well as possible on the European stage. The fact that we’re facing several reigning domestic champions underlines the quality of our opponents.”
