Pre-match facts: Three on the spin?

VfB are looking to make it three wins in a row across all competitions when they travel to Hamburg, with almost 6,000 fans set to cheer them on as Angelo Stiller achieves a personal milestone.

Looking back: Impressive recent record

Hamburg struck late to win 2-1 at the Volksparkstadion in November 2025 (VfB’s goal coming courtesy of Deniz Undav), while VfB had a much easier time of things at the MHP Arena in April this year, cruising to a 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Angelo Stiller, Chris Führich, Maximilian Mittelstädt and Bilal El Khannouss. VfB have also won five of their last six encounters with HSV.

VfB pair return to former club

Josha Vagnoman was born in Hamburg and played for a number of HSV’s youth sides between 2010 and 2022. He also appeared in one Bundesliga match for the club before moving to Stuttgart. Ermedin Demirovic too was born and bred in the north German city and represented HSV between 2004 and 2014.

Morocco team-mates face off

Zakaria El Ouahdi and El Khannouss know one another well from the Morocco national team and from their time together at Belgian club KRC Genk.

Milestone for Stiller

Stiller is on the cusp of making his 150th Bundesliga appearance, having racked up seven goals and 22 assists during that time. The midfielder set up two goals in the same league game for the first time since April 2025 in the 2-0 win away to Paderborn, while his most recent league goal came against Hamburg in that 4-0 win back in April.

Seimen looking to set record

Dennis Seimen made his club and Bundesliga debut in the 2-0 victory at Paderborn and is now hoping to become the first goalkeeper in VfB history to keep a clean sheet in his first two top-flight matches.

Attendance: Almost 6,000 set to travel

VfB have sold their entire allocation and will have some 5,850 fans behind them.
