Lazar Jovanovic signs for Udinese Calcio

The 19-year-old forward, who made six appearances for VfB, joins the Italian top-flight side with immediate effect.

Lazar Jovanovic and VfB Stuttgart have gone their separate ways. The forward, who moved to Cannstatt from Serbian outfit Red Star Belgrade last summer on a contract until 30 June 2029, has joined Italian top-flight club Udinese Calcio.

Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB’s board member for sport: “Lazar showed a great deal of promise in pre-season and showed his qualities in a number of friendlies. However, the competition in our squad is fierce and the move to Udine will give Lazar the opportunity to play more frequently than he may have done with us. We thank Lazar for his time with us and wish him all the best for the future.”

Jovanovic made six appearances for VfB in all competitions. He made his debut for the club at Union Berlin on the opening day of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season on 23 August 2025, before going on to make two more appearances in Germany’s top division. The Serbian youngster also made three appearances for Sebastian Hoeneß’s side in the UEFA Europa League.

VfB would like to thank Lazar for his efforts in Stuttgart colours and wish him all the very best for the future.
