With the shirts for the 2026/27 season, VfB Stuttgart is paying tribute to the mineral water springs, the early history, colours and achievements of its home district of Bad Cannstatt. This homage has been produced in close cooperation with kit manufacturer JAKO and main sponsor LBBW. And it takes all VfB fans and members on a cultural journey through Bad Cannstatt – starting with the unveiling of the home jersey today, Wednesday. The inspiration for the jersey comes from water as part of Cannstatt’s cultural heritage.
The history of Bad Cannstatt is closely associated with rich sources of mineral water, with the second largest output in Europe. No fewer than 13 springs are officially recognised as medicinal springs. Cannstatt’s international reputation as a spa town in the mid-19th century also helped to ensure that English spa guests introduced football earlier than in almost any other place in Germany, laying the foundation for the great football tradition in Cannstatt.
Inspired by Cannstatt mineral water
VfB’s home shirt for the 2026/27 season combines this cultural history with modernity. The striking design features palpable elements imprinted across the entire surface, which are inspired by Cannstatt’s “Klösterlebrunnen” springs and combined with typical regional symbols such as antlers and the “Rössle” (“little horse”). The red Brustring is visually extended across the dyed sleeves and flows upward in a rippling pattern, similar to Cannstatt mineral water. This evokes numerous home jerseys with extended red sections throughout VfB’s long history while also honouring the club’s colours of white and red.
Alexander Wehrle, CEO :
Our jerseys for the forthcoming season represent a unique tribute to our home of Bad Cannstatt.
The high-quality embroidered VfB crest badge is intentionally larger. The design is rounded off by a narrow crew neck in the club colours and one of the oldest depictions of the “Cannstatter Kanne” (“Cannstatt Jug”), the symbol of the Stuttgart Spring Festival, on the back of the neck. Players and supporters will wear the same shirt.
Alexander Wehrle, CEO of VfB, said: “Our jerseys for the forthcoming season represent a unique tribute to our home of Bad Cannstatt. They combine our deeply rooted tradition with a modern, stylish design. Thanks go to our partners JAKO and LBBW, who together with our merchandising team, have come up with another distinctive VfB kit range. I am sure our fans will like them and they will carry us through an exciting season.”
First appearance at open training session
In addition to coaching staff kit, two goalkeeper jerseys have also been released. They remain in the vibrant neon green and orange colours, with the matching shorts also featuring flowing colour gradients and the same spring motifs. Socks with the Brustring complete the overall look.
All adult and children’s sizes are available online now. Furthermore, adult sizes are already available in the VfB fan shops at the stadium, in Stuttgart city centre and in the Breuningerland shopping centre in Ludwigsburg. The shirts have been produced to JAKO’s usual first-class standards and from mostly recycled materials.
The first team will sport the new home shirt for the first time at the opening pre-season training session at the VfB training ground on Thursday 16 July, which is open to the public.
