VfB’s first competitive game of the 2026/27 season has been finalised, with the side travelling to F.C. Hansa Rostock on Friday 21 August 2026 in the first round of the DFB Cup (kick-off 20:45 CEST). The German Football Association (DFB) announced the schedule on Wednesday afternoon.
Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB board member for sport, said of the first-round draw on 6 June: “We’ve enjoyed a great deal of success in the DFB Cup in recent years and want to pick up where we left off after the summer break. At the same time, we know from last season just how challenging this competition can be, even in the first round. As such, we’re taking the match against F.C. Hansa Rostock very seriously and know that we’ll need to be ready from the first minute.”
