Yannik Keitel moves on loan to Augsburg

The 25-year-old midfielder is joining the club currently 15th in Bundesliga until the end of the 2025/26 season.

Yannik Keitel will be sporting Augsburg colours in the coming months, after VfB agreed terms with their Bundesliga rivals on a loan deal until the end of the current season, including a purchase option. The 25-year-old currently has a contract with VfB until 30 June 2028.

“Yannik is a player with an exemplary mindset and a completely professional approach,” said Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB board member for sport. “He’s always been ready whenever he’s been needed. FC Augsburg will give him the likelihood of regular playing time, making this loan deal one that makes sense for all parties involved. We would like to wish Yannik a successful time in Augsburg.”

Keitel joined VfB from SC Freiburg in summer 2024 and has since gone on to make 20 competitive appearances for the club – 11 in the Bundesliga, four in the UEFA Champions League, two in the DFB Cup and one in the DFL Supercup, as well as turning out twice for the reserves in the third division. He was part of head coach Sebastian Hoeneß’s 2024/25 DFB Cup-winning squad.
