Jeremy Arévalo has joined VfB Stuttgart from Spanish second-tier club Racing Santander. The 20-year-old forward, whose contract in Spain had a clause allowing him to move during the winter transfer window, has signed a deal with VfB valid until 30 June 2031. He will wear the number 25 jersey in Cannstatt and will take part in his first training session when the team reconvenes on 3 January 2026.
Arévalo, who has already passed his medical check in Stuttgart, said: “VfB Stuttgart is a big club that has drawn international recognition in recent times. I’m really looking forward to getting to know my new team-mates and taking part in my first few training sessions. I’m hoping to settle in quickly, to continue developing and to help the team so that we can be successful together.”
Fabian Wohlgemuth, board member for sport at VfB, said: “We’re very pleased that Jeremy will wear our jersey in the new year. He already has a lot of attributes a striker needs, and he demonstrated his qualities in Santander. He’s still young and we see a lot of potential in Jeremy that we want to unlock with him. During our talks it became clear that he was determined to take the step into the Bundesliga and that he can’t wait to showcase his abilities with us.”
Senior Ecuador international
Arévalo was born on 19 March 2005 in the Spanish town of Maliano, close to Santander, although he also holds Ecuadorian citizenship. He rose through the youth ranks at Racing Santander and made his debut for the club’s reserve team, Rayo Cantabria, in 2022, going on to register six goals and seven assists in 57 outings.
He subsequently moved up to the first team, and has played for them in Spain’s second division since 2024/25, recording eight goals and two assists across 39 appearances.
Arévalo earned three caps for Spain’s U18 side, scoring once. However, he subsequently switched allegiance to Ecuador, and has made five appearances for the U20s, including at the U20 South American Championship in 2025. He made his senior international debut for Ecuador on 14 November 2025 in a 0-0 draw with Canada.
