In drizzle, Sebastian Hoeneß’s side began preparations for the UEFA Europa League play-off second leg against Celtic FC on Thursday 26 February (kick-off 18:45 CET). Following the 4-1 win in the first leg, VfB are looking to wrap up their place in the round of 16 at home.
Fans and floodlights give extra boost
“Our aim is to prepare for Celtic as best we can,” said Bilal El Khannouss, who scored two of the goals in the first meeting in Glasgow. “It was a very good performance in the first leg with a good outcome.” After the travelling VfB fans gave fantastic support at Celtic Park, the home crowd should also unleash added energy. “It’s always incredible playing under the lights in front of our fans,” added the attacker. “Together we want to make sure that it’s a great evening and we go through to the next round.”
