“Even more excited following the draw”

Alexander Wehrle and Sebastian Hoeneß give their thoughts on the UEFA Europa League draw.

VfB Stuttgart will soon embark on their second successive European campaign. Having participated in the UEFA Champions League in 2024/25, the club from Cannstatt will now feature in the Europa League thanks to their DFB Cup triumph.

There had already been a growing sense of anticipation at the club ahead of the competition, a feeling that was further heightened following Friday afternoon’s draw in Monaco to determine each team’s opponents.

Sebastian Hoeneß’s side will take on Feyenoord, Maccabi Tel Aviv, Young Boys Bern and Celta Vigo at the MHP Arena, and will face away trips to AS Roma, Fenerbahçe, FC Basel and Go Ahead Eagles.

“An attractive draw”

Alexander Wehrle, VfB CEO: “We were already really looking forward to the Europa League, but we’re even more excited now following the draw. We’ll be facing interesting and very different opponents. On the one hand I’m looking forward to some fantastic European nights at our MHP Arena, and on the other that our fans can enjoy some away trips in Europe for the second straight season.”

Sebastian Hoeneß, VfB head coach: “It’s an attractive draw with interesting matches, which we’re looking forward to. We worked hard to reach the Europa League and we want to both enjoy the competition and go into it with a certain ambition. It all starts after the international break, which is when we’ll begin focusing on making concrete preparations for our opponents.”
