The talented youngster joined VfB when he was 19, but injuries restricted him to a mere six appearances in his first season. His career was given a new lease of life when Sebastian Hoeneß took over as head coach in April 2023 – and he seized it straight away, scoring the only goal in the very first match under the new boss, the 1-0 victory over 1. FC Nürnberg in the DFB Cup quarter-finals.
Blossomed under Hoeneß
“The fact that Sebastian Hoeneß, with the playing style that he has, took over as head coach clearly helped me a lot,” the attacking midfielder explained in an interview. “He allows me a certain amount of freedom out on the pitch that I really appreciate and that gives me the chance to show what I’m capable of.”
In the two relegation play-off matches against Hamburger SV at the end of the 2022/23 season, Millot contributed two goals and as assist. “We all took so much from that, particularly me personally,” the Frenchman said.
Thrilling fans with dribbles, assists and goals
Millot and Jamie Leweling were VfB’s top scorers in the 2024/25 UEFA Champions League with two goals each. And then of course there was the DFB Cup final on 24 May, when he scored twice in the 4-2 win over Arminia Bielefeld.
“I may have made my professional debut for AS Monaco but I truly became a pro here in Stuttgart,” reflected Millot. “VfB gave me the opportunity to establish myself at the top level and I’m grateful to the club for that.” He leaves with a record of 113 competitive appearances for VfB, 22 goals and 21 assists.
Wohlgemuth full of praise
“Enzo has made a significant contribution to our positive sporting development in recent years,” said Fabian Wohlgemuth, VfB board member for sport. “He played a leading role in both the successful relegation play-offs and more recently in Berlin when we won the DFB Cup. We would like to thank Enzo for his performances in a VfB shirt and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”
We say: Merci, Enzo, and au revoir!
