Malik Fathi, who has been VfB Stuttgart’s assistant coach since the start of the 2023/24 season, has extended his contract with the club through to 30 June 2028. The 41-year-old two-time Germany international, who also made 175 appearances in the Bundesliga for Hertha BSC and Mainz 05, spent time as a youth coach with the Berlin club before moving to Stuttgart.
Performance manager Florian Mohr has also committed his future to the club until 30 June 2028. Mohr, 43, has been part of VfB’s backroom team since the start of last term.
Weiss returns from Bayern
Nate Weiss, who spent three years at VfB as a youth and first-team coach between 2021 and 2024, is returning to Cannstatt. The American-born 37-year-old was employed by FC Bayern Munich as an individual coach during the 2024/25 campaign but is now heading back to Cannstatt, where he will join the first-team staff as a technical coach.
