VfB players undergo performance tests

Ahead of their return to training on Wednesday, the VfB squad are undergoing a variety of performance diagnostic tests, which form an important part of pre-season.

Before their pre-season preparations begin in earnest, the VfB players’ current performance levels need to be ascertained through targeted tests and analyses. These tests are taking place on Monday and Tuesday, with the first group of players beginning their assessments at the VfB Club Centre at 9:30am on the dot on Monday morning.

Lorenz Assignon greeted his assessors with a “salut!” and a friendly smile. VfB’s new signing from French top-flight club Stade Rennais was part of the first group, which also included Jeff Chabot, Chris Führich, Ramon Hendriks, Luca Jaquez and Yannik Keitel. A number of different running drills were followed by a short exercise with the ball, but the bulk of the work took place in the weights room, where the players’ performance levels were tested at several different stations, each with a different focus.

1,000 fans expected on Wednesday

VfB officially kick off pre-season on Wednesday, when they take to the field for their first training session ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

Session to be streamed live on VfB TV
